The publishing house Montaner i Simon comprise a stunning histroy and counts to one of the most important publisher in Catalonia since more than 120 years. The publishing house was founded in 1861 by Ramon Montaner and Francesc Simon, who became the most reonwed publishers of art catalogs as well as high quality publications and magazines.
The house was built three-storey as commonly seen in this era. Back then, cast-iron carrying-elements with red bricks were used as flexible working material to create larege areas, necessary for the massive prining machines. Chromatic windows were used to the facade side to close the room, which was intended to spread more daylight into the room. The house exhibits similar patterns to a palace despite the utilization of industrial materials,
The concept of the construction of the publishing house was used by the first house of the Modernisme of Castell dels tres Dragons. The publisher fall into insolveny in 1981 and subsequntly many of his works got lost.
