Discover Barcelona with an exciting search for clues in the Gothic Quarter: solve the mystery "Murder By The Cathedral"

Solve a thrilling criminal case from the 20th century and experience a mystery adventure in Barcelona's historic centre with your Barcelona City Pass

Explore the Gothic Quarter in Barcelona with an exiting mystery game

How does it work?

You take on the role of an investigator in the year 1914. You receive a message from the public prosecutor's office - an important person has disappeared, and now it's up to you to solve the mystery and prevent worse things from happening.

At the pick-up point, you will receive an envelope with the background and initial clues to the mystery that needs to be solved. Based on a true case, you will use your criminalist instincts to search for further clues on a tour of Barcelona's Gothic Quarter.

This mystery tour, which you undertake on your own, lets you experience the old town around the cathedral in a very special way. Like a scavenger hunt, you work your way from one clue to the next.

During the tour, you will learn a lot about the Gothic Quarter as well as background information on the true crime case from 1914.

The entire tour will take you around 2 to 2.5 hours and the participation fee is already included in your Barcelona City Pass. This saves you €19/person. The total walking distance is around two kilometres.

The Gothic Quarter – the playing field

Where the cathedral stands - whose current appearance with its impressive façade and central tower was created between 1886 and 1913 - the development of this area began with a Roman temple. This is the oldest centre of the city.

Most of the old buildings that have been preserved date from the 14th and 15th centuries. In addition to the cathedral, the Archdeacon's Palace (Casa de l'Ardiaca) and the seat of the medieval parliament (Palau de la Generalitat) are particularly worth seeing.

Even the remains of the Roman city wall can still be seen: in the inner courtyard of the Palau Requensens.

The Cathedral

The cathedral in the Gothic Quarter of Barcelona is named after the patron saint St Eulalia of Barcelona; the official name is Catedral de la Santa Creu i Santa Eulalia. After the Sagrada Familia, this is the most important church in Barcelona.

The building as we see it today was built between the 13th and 15th centuries. Its rich history and countless sights, such as the portals, side aisles, bell tower and keystones, are truly impressive.*
