This exciting sightseeing tour takes you along Venice's largest canal. During the one-hour trip, you can marvel at the different architectural styles of Venice - Byzantine, Renaissance, Baroque, Gothic - and admire the Rialto Bridge, the oldest and most famous bridge in Venice, and the palaces on the edge of the canal. The city on the water also has opulent palaces, impressive churches and beautiful gardens that leave a lasting impression from the water.
Your ticket for the Grand Canal Tour is included free of charge in the Venice City Pass and you save € 30.00.
The Grand Canal, Venice's main canal, is much more than just a waterway - it is the beating heart of the city, a lively ribbon that winds majestically through its narrow streets. With a length of around 3.8 kilometers, it stretches from the Basilica of Santa Maria della Salute in the southeast to the Santa Lucia train station in the northwest.
The shape of the Grand Canal is characteristic: it meanders through the city in the shape of an inverted S, and there are four important bridges on it. One of these is the famous Rialto Bridge, a symbol of Venice that often appears on postcards. The Rialto Bridge connects the two districts of San Marco and San Polo and offers a magnificent view of the canal and the surrounding palaces.
The palaces along the Grand Canal are another reason why this canal is so fascinating. These magnificent buildings bear witness to the former power and wealth of the Venetian aristocratic families. Some of the most famous palaces are the Ca' d'Oro, the Palazzo Grassi, the Ca' Rezzonico and the Palazzo Contarini del Bovolo. The decorations and architectural styles of these palaces are impressive and reflect the artistry of the past.
The Grand Canal is more than just a waterway; it is a symbol of the unique beauty and history of Venice. Taking a stroll along its banks or a ride on its waters is an essential part of the experience when visiting this enchanting city.
